Lieutenant - Inspections
Patrick Stewart joined the Marietta Fire Department in 2002. Early on in his career, Patrick focused his training on fire fighting, technical rescue, and EMS. During this time he completed Paramedic training and obtained certifications in NPQ instructor and Hazmat Technician. In 2011 he completed NPQ Fire Officer I and NPQ Fire and Life Safety Educator. He was promoted to Firefighter Engineer in 2007 and then to Lieutenant in 2011.
In August of 2011, he joined the Fire Prevention Bureau as the Public Education Lieutenant. While working in that capacity, Patrick’s duties involved teaching fire safety to preschool and elementary children. His other tasks included conducting fire exit drills, fire extinguisher classes and various fire prevention and safety programs throughout the community. In August of 2012, Patrick was assigned to Inspections within the Fire Prevention Division. In this capacity, he coordinates the day to day inspections handled by the division. Patrick also works closely with the suppression division and is tasked with the responsibility of eradicating code violations as they are located by the fire crews during their monthly business inspections.
Lieutenant Stewart earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resource Management in 1996 from Western Carolina University. Patrick was awarded Firefighter Engineer of the Year in 2008.
