Redevelopment
The city of Marietta's Department of Redevelopment assists in creating and maintaining a vibrant, prosperous, economically balanced community by providing support and direction to community groups and real estate professionals. The department administers the city's redevelopment programs including tax allocation districts and new market tax credits and manages the day-to-day operations of the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation (MRC), the city’s official redevelopment agency.
Through the administration of the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation, which was primarily created to eliminate slum and blight, maintain the physical character of neighborhoods and facilitate redevelopment activities, the department promotes citywide redevelopment with emphasis on designated redevelopment areas and commercial corridors and works diligently toward improving the quality of life for all citizens.
