It is the city's responsibility to review and approve site plans to verify they meet the requirements of the city code. Once development begins, the city performs site inspections to ensure that construction is following the approved plans and that the site is in compliance with all applicable ordinances and laws.
Site plans are submitted to the Engineering Division located on the second floor of City Hall, 205 Lawrence St. Plans are reviewed by the Public Works Department, Planning and Zoning Department, Marietta Board of Lights and Water and the Marietta Fire Department. They are also supplied to the GIS division and Marietta Power for informational purposes. In the Public Works Department the plans are reviewed by the civil engineer and the erosion control inspector, and approved by the city engineer.

The erosion control inspectors perform site inspections and attend pre-construction meetings. The erosion control inspectors are in the office 7:30-8:30 a.m., 1-1:30 p.m., and 4-4:30 p.m.
