Expansion Plans
Business retention and expansion (B.R. and E.) is one of the most effective economic development activities the city can undertake. Since the majority of new jobs are created as our existing businesses expand and hire new people, it makes sense that Marietta commits resources to make sure our existing companies thrive and grow. It is also much easier and less expensive to retain an existing company than to recruit a new company.
Marietta's business retention and expansion efforts involve:
-
Building relationships with existing companies through regular, meaningful contact with company executives and staff.
-
Monitoring changing marketplace dynamics so that policy makers are able to make decisions that support and enhance community economic growth.
-
Taking advantage of local, regional and state partners that contribute to the success of Marietta companies.
