The Marietta Police Department is honored to announce the promotions of Sergeant Andrew Colquitt, Lieutenant David Collins and Major Stephen Campisi. At a promotion ceremony this morning, Chief Flynn explained that promotions at every rank in the MPD are taken very seriously and promotional candidates are rated on overall competence, experience, training, extensive testing and a history of excellent job performance. Thus, Sergeant Colquitt, Lieutenant Collins and Major Campisi have well-earned their promotions and each of them will bring unique skill sets, and extensive knowledge to their new positions of authority.
Congratulations to each employee for the following promotions:
Andrew Colquitt began his career with the Marietta Police Department as a Police Explorer for several years before being hired as an Officer in February of 2007. He has served as a Uniform Patrol Officer, a Community Response Unit Officer, an Investigative Division Detective and an active member of the Marietta S.W.A.T. Team. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Kennesaw State University. He has received the Rising Star Award, the Difference Maker Award, Medal of Meritorious Service, Medal of Valor, and a Law Enforcement Commendation Medal.
David Collins began his career with the Marietta Police Department in April of 2002. He has served on all three Uniform Patrol shifts, the Crime Interdiction Unit, the Training Unit, and as a member of the SWAT Team. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master’s Degree in Emergency Service Management both from Columbia Southern University in Alabama. He has been awarded of the Medal of Meritorious Service, four Distinguished Service Awards, and the Difference Maker Award.
Steve Campisi joined the Marietta Police Department in December of 1995. He has served in Uniform Patrol, Investigative Services, Support Services, Community Outreach as well as the Office of Professional Standards. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. He was awarded the Alex Newsome Supervisor of the Year in 2012 and has earned the Difference Maker Award twice during his career.
