MARIETTA – During the week of January 1, 2018 the City of Marietta/Board of Lights and Water was notified of fraudulent activity on one of the City’s bank accounts.

The City discovered that fraudulent checks which appeared to be issued by the City were being distributed to individuals as part of a fake check scam. Due to security procedures at the City and the City’s financial institution, the City has not lost any funds due to this fraudulent activity. The City of Marietta/Board of Lights and Water’s Accounting Division is continuing to work closely with our bank and law enforcement to stop this activity and prosecute the perpetrators.

If you feel you’ve received unsolicited funds from The City of Marietta/Board of Lights and Water, please contact Michelle Collings in the City’s Finance department at 770-794-5434.
