About Our Department

The Marietta Fire Department was officially formed in 1854 following a massive fire that destroyed most of the Marietta Square. During this time of the mid 1800s, Marietta citizens relied on volunteer bucket brigades to pass water hand to hand from a water source to the fire as their only form of fire protection.

ISO 1 Department

Fast forward to today, the Marietta Fire Department is an ISO 1 department, that employs four civilians and over 130 full time uniformed personnel. The rating of ISO 1 is the highest rating achievable for a fire department. The City has six fire stations that respond to around 12,000 total emergency calls per year. We have a fleet of state of the art apparatus including nine fire engines, three ladder trucks, two advanced life support rescues, a technical rescue truck, and 2 hazardous material response units.
