On Wednesday, February 10, 2016, the Marietta City Council unanimously approved the renaming of Franklin Road to Franklin Gateway. After much consideration and input from the public and residents of changing the name, City Council was able to reach a decision on the name for which everyone can be proud.
On Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, City Council reappointed members to the Marietta Development Authority, Historic Board of Review and Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals during the Council meeting.
The Marietta Police Department will host a Firearm Safety Seminar on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. This seminar is designed for civilians and will cover a variety of topics to include safety, laws, and alternative weapon usage. The seminar is free of charge.

The Marietta Police Department is pleased to announce that we are offering an Active Shooter Response Seminar for Teachers ONLY on Wednesday, March 2nd, @ Marietta High School from 6:00-7:30pm. ALL teachers ranging from daycare to universities are invited and allowed to bring one guest.
The Marietta Police Department is hosting a charity golf tournament to benefit the Special Olympics of Georgia and the 26,000 Georgia athletes/participants. The Special Olympics offers 25 different sports for the athletes to experience. Athletes gain confidence and life skills by participating and competing in their chosen sport. We invite you to join us for a day of golf to help raise money and awareness for this cause.
